Myth vs. Reality (What is a Labyrinth?)

A Sacred Path, Not a Puzzle

❌ What It Is Not

It is not a maze. There are no tricks, no puzzles to solve, no dead ends, and no blind alleys designed to catch you or make you lose your way.

✨ What It Truly Is

It is a singular, continuous spiraling path that gracefully guides you into the center and leads you back out again.

Dating back over 4,000 years across universal cultures, the labyrinth transcends specific doctrines, philosophies, and traditions. It stands as a profoundly inclusive, non-denominational practice designed to meet you exactly where you are and gently guide you to where you wish to go.

The Journey Inward
While there is absolutely no right or wrong way to walk our labyrinth, you can choose to align your journey with these three classic stages of transformation:

RELEASE (Purgation): The Path Inward
As you step onto the threshold and begin walking toward the center, use each step to consciously quiet your mind. Let go of the outside world, breathing out stress, worries, old stories, or anything that no longer serves your highest state of being.

RECEIVE (Illumination): The Turning Center
When you arrive at the heart of the path, stop and find stillness. Stay in the center for as long as your soul desires. Open your heart to invite quiet insight, creative intuition, deep healing, or simply a long sigh of relief.

RETURN (Union): The Path Outward
As you turn to follow the exact same path back out into the world, step with a renewed sense of purpose. Ground the clarity, balance, and peace you found in the center, ready to express it actively in your daily life.

Held in Experienced, Certified Care

Meet Our Facilitator: Dr. Rita Andriello-Feren

Dr. Rita Andriello-Feren is an ordained New Thought Minister, author, speaker, coach, performing artist, and Veriditas Certified Labyrinth Facilitator based on the island of Kaua'i, Hawai'i. As Co-Founding Spiritual Director of the Center for Spiritual Living Kaua'i, she has spent more than a decade helping people discover clarity, healing, and deeper spiritual connection.

Rita facilitates labyrinth experiences for individuals and groups—in-person, off-site using her portable labyrinth, and online using a handheld ceramic finger labyrinth that participants trace with their fingertips. Each experience creates sacred space for reflection, insight, and transformation. Her warm, inclusive approach welcomes people of all faiths, philosophies, and backgrounds, gently inviting each walker to slow down, turn inward, and reconnect with the wisdom and wholeness already within them.

Deeply Rooted Space Holding

With over 15 years of experience guiding transformative walks, Dr. Rita cultivates a safe, compassionate sanctuary. Having built labyrinths across diverse spaces—including an impactful collaborative project alongside inmates in prison ministry—she deeply understands how to hold space for deep grief, heavy trauma, profound physical healing, or joyful community celebration.

Our Origins: Co-Creating the Canvas

The beautiful, in-house Chartres Labyrinth replica at our center found its way to the island through a collective labor of love. Sparked by the shared vision of Dr. Rita and Dr. Patrick Feren, the canvas was hand-painted through the stunning artistry of Isha Doellgast and the dedicated coordination of Melissa Mojo.
