This film follows Tova Sullivan (Sally Field), a grieving widow who cleans a local aquarium. She forms an unlikely, comforting bond with a highly intelligent, captive giant Pacific octopus named Marcellus (voiced by Alfred Molina). When a wandering drifter, Cameron (Lewis Pullman), arrives in town seeking his estranged father, the lives of these three characters become deeply intertwined. Guided by Marcellus, they uncover a hidden family mystery that ultimately brings them together for mutual healing and closure.
