OUR HISTORY

“Put love first. Entertain thoughts that give life. And, when a thought, resentment, hurt, or fear comes your way, have another thought that is more powerful, a thought that is love.”

                                     — Marianne Mannin Morrisey

What is New Thought?

The New Thought movement began in the 19th Century. It states that Infinite Intelligence, God, Spirit is everywhere present and expresses Itself through all of creation. Our True self is Divine. New Thought promotes the idea that our mind is a creative force. It is done unto us as we believe.
Our mind can be a force for good, and right thinking has a healing effect. The highest spiritual principle of New Thought is to love one another and to realize our Oneness with all.

New Thought is not delegated to any religious doctrine or creeds or churches. It is a way of thinking, a way of believing, a way of living. However, there are specific religions that base all of their teachings on New Thought. They are: Science of Mind or Religious Science, founded by Ernest Holmes; Unity Church, founded by Myrtle and Charles Filmore; and the Church of Divine Science Founded by Nona Brooks and Malinda Cramer.

To practice New Thought one must be willing to embody the idea that thoughts are things and that in any moment by changing your thoughts you can change the motion of your life in the direction of your choosing.
